Read our Q&A below to learn more about Mike.

What sparked your interest in the law?
I took a jurisprudence class in college and found the lectures on the nature of our legal system fascinating. That experience sparked my interest, and I took another class on constitutional law before deciding to pursue my law degree.

What’s the most interesting client issue you’ve addressed recently?
I recently worked on a matter where our client’s claim relied on one sentence of a relatively short statute. The only previous case interpreting the statute did not address the portion we relied on, which left significant leeway for both sides to argue. It was an interesting challenge to plan our arguments with no case law to support a particular interpretation because it allowed me a lot of freedom to assert my own understanding of the statute.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?
My first trial. Completing a trial—and securing a favorable result for my client—felt like I had arrived and was truly established as a lawyer.

What’s something others may not know about you?
I am a transplant twice over. Originally from California, I moved to North Carolina with my family when I was younger. More recently, my wife and I decided we wanted a change and relocated to Chicago.

What are you passionate about outside of work?
I am a runner. Currently, I am planning to run three half marathons in 2026. One down and two more to go!

What’s your favorite restaurant and why?
Shortly after arriving in Chicago, my wife and I had a celebratory dinner at Rose Mary in the West Loop. The food was excellent, and it became a special place for us.
