BUSINESS DISPUTES

At Goodman Law Group | Chicago we understand that disputes aren’t just unpleasant — they cost your business time and money. Resolving these matters, whether they arise with customers, clients, partners, employees, competitors, or vendors, is our team’s top priority, and we use every tool at our disposal to deliver a favorable result and get our clients back to business.

Litigation

No business wants to deal with litigation, but many times it is necessary to protect your rights and interests. We are litigators and have successfully tried many cases to verdict in state and federal courts across the country, helping clients resolve costly matters and move forward. We are also known for our appellate work, through which we can bring a fresh perspective to complex cases and secure a reversal or protect a key decision being challenged on appeal.

Arbitration

Arbitration is sometimes a preferred or required alternative to litigation. We have extensive experience successfully arbitrating a wide range of business disputes. We also serve as non-neutral arbitrators.

Client Successes

  • Cyber Claim Win — We recovered $7.5 million for the Canadian division of a North American general contracting, construction management, and design-build firm in a business arbitration arising from an insurer’s denial of coverage for a cyber claim.
  • Shareholder Misconduct Resolution — When the founder and largest shareholder of a financial services firm was accused of significant misconduct — including embezzlement, various breaches of his fiduciary duties, and coverups — we used arbitration as a tool to resolve the dispute, ultimately removing him from his position, diluting his stake in the entity, and restructuring our client’s business.
  • Arbitration Defense Victory — We successfully defended a salon in an arbitration, obtaining a $0 verdict in a case brought by a construction firm.
